It was so disappointing at the time and I would love to fix it. Please email me at epsilon1975 "at" gmail.com with the details of where I should post them. I am the guy that got AztecMonster working! I opened my case today and took a couple of pictures, I have extended ROMs v2.3, kickstart 3.1, the same 8MB Ram, SCSI card, AztecMonster, 1GB CF card, joystick adapter, Individual VGA adapter. I can boot to the usual CDTV title and use the CD player, I can boot from a CD, a floppy or a hard drive. Getting the AztecMonster to boot requires turning the power switch on an off in a manner that triggers the flickering you see on it's LED activity indicator. It's tricky at first but you get used to it. I could fix this glitch with an external PSU for the AztecMonster, but I prefer to use the discrete internal PSU. I believe this is because the AztecMonster has to initialise before the CDTV. I confirm there is no reason the CD ROM drive not to work with 3.1 Kickstart. On one of your pictures, I can see CD0 isn't recognized in early-startup menu. So it is a boot problem.

I advice you to make this kind of tests: disconnect (physically) your SCSI card. Just plug CDTV ROM 2.3, try to boot from a CD. Next, if all is already working, install KS 3.1 and this time you can access the early-startup menu to see if your CD0 unit is here. Last step, plug your SCSI card and make new tests. In this order.

Your second problem with SCSI card on/off switch alerts me. I'm using the same card and normally this switch should work. I'm afraid your SCSI card is faulty and causes problem with the internal CD-ROM drive too.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10820052153569229469noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260463056447598917.post-82906466144801631152016-09-12T04:08:17.329+09:302016-09-12T04:08:17.329+09:30Do the new extended roms work with your original k...Do the new extended roms work with your original kickstart 1.3 ? If you have another 50 pin cable with three or more plugs you can just get a terminator like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/IDC50-Active-Internal-50-Pin-Male-SCSI-Terminator-for-Ribbon-Cables-ST-502-/280974736399

Or for slightly less money, just get a pre-made cable that has the terminator already on it:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/190158-008-Compaq-Narrow-SCSI-50-pin-3-Device-Cable-with-Terminator-/271910662444?hash=item3f4f23712c:g:bngAAOSwMmBViaab

I'm fairly confident that's the issue since I can't see any termination resistors on the Aztecmonster card itself in the shots you've posted.Mannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07981600072249116367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260463056447598917.post-20431723827625511922016-04-30T11:18:04.827+09:302016-04-30T11:18:04.827+09:30To get the Aztekmonster card working, you probably...To get the Aztekmonster card working, you probably need a SCSI cable with an active terminator on the end. Beyond that, check the card to see if it has a termination jumper on it, and also check what the SCSI ID is of the card. My gut is telling me that it's a termination issue though.Mannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07981600072249116367noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260463056447598917.post-57923253558278523542016-04-25T06:57:25.493+09:302016-04-25T06:57:25.493+09:30Thanks, will try to contact him! Thanks, will try to contact him!Marcusnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260463056447598917.post-12298910052407138162016-04-25T06:38:58.888+09:302016-04-25T06:38:58.888+09:30Hi dude, I remember having a 500 with kick 3.1 and...Hi dude, I remember having a 500 with kick 3.1 and A570, the CD drive was perfectly functional with both 1.3 and 3.1 ROMs, have you tried to install just the 3.1 ROM and keep the CDTV-extended original ones in place?

Very nice expansion, still too bad Commodore couldn't make such machine a game changer!Emilianohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08946544051269420643noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260463056447598917.post-40882460015565494662016-04-25T06:08:31.181+09:302016-04-25T06:08:31.181+09:30These 8MB boards are built by a user named "H...These 8MB boards are built by a user named "Hikey" on amibay.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8260463056447598917.post-41334403095804768902016-04-24T19:59:33.306+09:302016-04-24T19:59:33.306+09:30Yes, I was surprised too.
